Toronto indie-rockers Monowhales have developed a reputation as a band who not only consistently releases great, original music but also understands the importance of creating memorable, visually appealing music videos.
The band has released their new single and video for “Real Love” which you can listen to here:
Produced by AL-P of MSTRKRFT, the song was recorded during the same sessions that yielded “Take It Back”, their most recent single/video which peaked at #25 on the Canadian Alternative Rock Charts and amassed over 1.4 MILLION views on Facebook since its release last fall.
Centering around an abusive relationship, “Real Love” mines the depths of delusion that can be reached by someone addicted to their lover.
The track is the second single from Monowhales’ forthcoming EP Control Freak, which will be released on June 1, 2018.
In the video, the band creates suspiciously surreal environments, only to reveal the cinematic “lie” behind each facade.
“When we started thinking about the video for this song, it became clear that we all wanted to capture the themes of delusion and uncertainty that the lyrics convey so well,” said drummer Jordan Circosta “With the help of Press It and our amazing team of set designers we were able to create environments that trick the viewer into thinking they understand what they’re seeing, only to have us reveal the movie magic behind each illusion.”
In support of the new single/video the band will play the following shows:
May 7 – The Phoenix Concert Theatre– Toronto, ON – Direct Support to Matt & Kim
May 11 – Royal Ontario Museum – Toronto, ON – Friday Night Live
In addition, the band will be announcing an Ontario tour for June which will include shows in Kingston, Ottawa, Oshawa, Hamilton and Toronto.
