Every year, the programming committee of the Festival de musique émergente en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FME) gets together in a spirit of great enthusiasm and optimism to put together a programme that brings together some of the hottest acts around. Up-and-coming young artists, more established stars, and bands right on the cusp of fame: All are represented at the FME. On June 6, the festival announced the first fifteen artists of its 2017 edition, and now the wait is over: Here is the complete roster for our 15th edition!
On Thursday, August 31, our many stages will be taken by storm by La Mverte, Thus Owls, King Abid, Slosh, and Duchess Says. Thursday and Friday afternoons, the Petites Tounes will have the pleasure of playing for children from Rouyn-Noranda schools. Then on Friday, September 1, festivalgoers will be treated to singular riffs from Louis-Philippe Gingras, Pierre Flynn, Jason Bajada, Julien Sagot, The Franklin Electric, Zen Bamboo, Elephant Stone, A Place To Bury Strangers, AeroBrasil, Chocolat, Deke Dickerson, The WildTones, and Bloodshot Bill & The Hick-Ups. The much-loved Hip-Hop Night at the mighty Paramount theatre features Mathew James, Lary Kidd, Eman X Vlooper, and Alaclair Ensemble.
On Saturday, August 2, I Shot Samo, Mon Doux Saigneur, KROY, Raphaël Dénommé, Saratoga, Le Bleu, Antoine Corriveau, Betty Bonifassi, Lubik, The Decline!, Barry Paquin Roberge, Les Dales Hawerchuk It It Anita, and Blood and Glass will fire up the various festival stages, followed by the popular Electronica Night, entrusted this year to Fakear and friends.
Finally, Le Couleur, Mat Vezio, Klô Pelgag, Matt Holubowski, ANEMONE, Jean-Michel Blais and HOAN have the honour of wrapping up this action-packed weekend. Metal fans will be happy to learn that the famous Swedish band Marduk are headlining Metal Night at the Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda, following sets by Incantation and Abysmal Dawn.
Of all the artists appearing at this year’s festival, four will take advantage of the opportunity to release new albums: Jason Bajada, Mon Doux Saigneur, et Eman X Vlooper. For his part, local rapper Mathew James will release his second EP as well.

FME La clique
This system, inaugurated in 2016, has been a great success. Besides the obvious benefit of free access to “5 à 7” cocktail parties, its purpose is to bring together fans who share the FME’s community goals. It also gives festivalgoers the chance to support the festival via a financing campaign. The voluntary contributions received upon registration to La Clique will be entirely reinvested in the festival, allowing us to continue to offer a wide array of free concerts. You can sign up for FME La clique now at this location. One lucky contributor to this campaign will receive a free trip for two to France for the 2018 edition of Festival Les Vieilles Charrues. This contest was made possible in collaboration with that festival and our travel partner, Club voyage Elite in Rouyn-Noranda.
Stay tuned: There are more announcements to come, including impromptu concerts and more! The 15th Edition of the FME is all set to go, from August 31 to September 3, 2017!
