“…an earful of gutsy, acoustic-driven rock. Matt Goud’s vocals soar throughout this album” – 8/10 – Rock Sound
“…(Northcote’s) brand of blue-collar, singer/songwriter lust is utterly convincing – world worn yet fresh and sharp…for lovers of Chuck Ragan and Ryan Adams.” – 7/10 – Classic Rock
Having just wrapped up a national tour supporting British folk-punk troubadour Frank Turner, Northcote is excited to announce that he will be heading back on tour for an extensive Canadian headlining run this spring. The tour is in support of his critically acclaimed third record Hope Is Made of Steel, which was released last fall through Black Box in Canada. The month-long tour, which kicks off on June 1 in Edmonton, AB, features stops in 18 Canadian cities. Vancouver folk artist Jordan Klassen will be support for the dates. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
Northcote is the moniker of Canadian songwriter Matt Goud. One of the hardest working songwriters in Canada, Northcote tells concise, heartfelt, relevant stories, with a truly pan-Canadian perspective having resided in 6 Canadian cities in the last 6 years (Regina, Yellowknife, Vancouver, Victoria, Ottawa and currently Nanaimo). Since the release of his self-titled sophomore album in 2013, which received widespread critical acclaim, Northcote has toured extensively across the globe, playing in over 14 countries, supporting the likes of The Gaslight Anthem, The Glorious Sons, Chuck Ragan, Twin Forks, Dave Hause and Against Me! To date, Northcote has released three full-length LP’s, a 7” and recently a digital single for the track “Your Rock and Roll”, which features a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Radio Nowhere” on the B-side.
