…And Begin, the new album from punk rock band Walk Of Shame, is a gift to the world. As soon as I heard I was going to be reviewing the album, I was extremely excited. And, after listening to the entire track list, I can proudly say that this album has earned a spot on my phone. It is a perfect example of what the music scene has been missing for quite some time now. In bringing those things back, this refreshing recording is a real joy to listen to from track one all the way through to track twelve.
The first track on this album, “…And Begin”, is the namesake of the CD. With its catchy song lyrics, fun guitar riffs, and some very serious drumming, this song would get the attention of any punk rock fan. Halfway through this song, I found myself wanting even more. There was no way I was bailing on the rest of the album now! Putting this song as the album opened was a great choice; it is upbeat, fun, and showcases the musical talents of the band members. It definitely sets a good vibe for the rest of the album.
Track two, “Undecided”, is one of my personal favorites on the album. To be honest, after just a few listens to this song it was suck in my head. I caught myself humming and singing the melody while I was out around town. Sometimes having the same song stuck in your head can be somewhat annoying. With “Undecided”, however, this was not the case!
“Enough’s Enough”, the fourth track on the disc, is anther great example of what Walk of Shame are all about. This song both showcases the musical talents of each band member as well as what this genre of music is all about. This is just one of many incredibly strong songs on the album.
Track nine, “That’s the One”, is another catchy song with fast-paced lyrics, fast drums, and fast guitar. This song keeps the party going while still remaining true to the punk-rock genre. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of new-age punk-rock as well. You can definitely dance to this song if moshing isn’t your thing. Additionally, having this nice blend of old and new punk-rock allows for fans of both old and new to come together.
Overall, this entire album is a great contribution to the music world, and is a real treat for fans of music in general. ...And Begin keeps to the traditional punk-rock sound while, at the same time, blending elements which result in numerous refreshing twists. Each track keeps your attention and gets you wanting more. I had a blast listening to the album, and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the punk-rock genre. I really look forward to seeing the band live. Click here for more info on their record release party coming up on October 25th.
